Chiaravalle & Vassallo A single drop of water – Seaside

The second evening of the 5th edition is dedicated to the theme of water, a universal symbol of balance, transformation, and renewal, but also a fragile resource at the center of global environmental challenges. Water is not only matter and landscape: it is also a metaphor for journey, introspection, and adaptation — values that jazz can express in a uniquely poetic way.

Next, the musical project “A Single Drop of Water – Seaside Jazz” brings to the stage two young yet already acclaimed figures of the contemporary Italian jazz scene:

Felice Chiaravalle, guitarist and composer born in Nola in 1999, winner of competitions such as Teano Jazz and Umbria Jazz. He has performed at major festivals (JazzMI, Pisa Jazz, Volterra Jazz) and collaborated with artists like Ares Tavolazzi. With his debut album Safe Place (2025), he showcases a writing style that intertwines melodic lyricism and timbral exploration, blending jazz, fusion, and Mediterranean influences.

Michele Vassallo, saxophonist and composer trained between Salerno and Brussels, where he studied with Fabrice Alleman. Active as both bandleader and sideman in several projects — from Banda Maje to C’ammafunk — he has developed a language that combines improvisation, groove, and original sound textures.

Their collaboration for the Belgian Italian Jazz Festival stems from the desire to translate the essence of the sea and water into sound: reflections, currents, silences, and reverberations become musical material, transforming the audience’s experience into an evocative journey.
