Fanfara Gennaretti/Lalli
The evening “Le radici del jazz” (The Roots of Jazz) aims to revive the popular, processional, and ritual spirit of jazz tradition — particularly that of the brass bands and marching bands that played a fundamental role in shaping the jazz language. The collective energy, neighborhood parades, and New Orleans second lines speak of community, participation, and shared vitality — elements we wish to awaken in those who listen.
The evening opens with the Fanfara of Ladispoli, not as a simple ceremonial introduction, but as a symbolic gesture that directly recalls the popular, communal, and processional origins of jazz.
The Fanfara Gennaretti-Lalli of the ANB Ladispoli/Cerveteri section was founded in 2015 and takes its name from two historic founding members. It made its debut in 2016 during the Sagra del Carciofo (Artichoke Festival) and has since continued to perform in national gatherings and numerous popular local events. The ensemble currently includes about 31 members, among them officers from the Army, Navy, and Carabinieri, and is directed by Luca Lalli, a veteran of the Bersaglieri musical tradition.
Its presence at the festival seeks to build a symbolic bridge between the popular ritual of marching bands and the roots of jazz, bringing audiences the vibrant energy of a living community tradition.
