The Jazz Sailor Immersive Concert
JAZZ, VIDEO PROJECTIONS, STORYTELLINGS
The second project, “The Jazz Sailor – Immersive Concert”, is an original production of the festival and embodies the creative research journey developed by the artistic director Angelo Gregorio.
Born from a year-long exploration between music and sailing — including surveys of over 300 participants, interviews with sailors and jazz musicians, and the collection of personal testimonies — the project has evolved into both a book (Jazz Sailor – Il jazz nella vela, la vela nel jazz, 2024) and an upcoming album (May 2025), featuring cover art by illustrator and sailor Davide Besana.
The concert fuses music, narration, and projected visuals, turning the stage into a multisensory experience. A real sail becomes a symbolic and scenographic centerpiece, while sounds and stories flow like the sea itself — evoking freedom, introspection, and sustainability.
For this edition, The Jazz Sailor will also include an interactive segment, allowing the audience to participate in real time using their mobile devices. Through questions, reflections, and live visual interactions, spectators will be invited to engage with the theme of water — its fragility, its rhythm, its power — becoming active contributors to the concert’s emotional and environmental journey.
This dual perspective — the freshness and poetry of the young duo Chiaravalle & Vassallo, and the mature, immersive vision of The Jazz Sailor — offers a polyphonic portrait of water: a shared resource to protect, a metaphor for life to explore, and a sonic horizon to inhabit.
The screening — in Italian with English subtitles — will take place in the presence of a delegation of young participants and representatives from the Cariati Naval League, who will travel to Brussels to share their story with the audience.
